Aḍ-Ḍārr
The Distresser
Root ض ر ر (ḍ-r-r). Lane gives the root sense of ḍ-r-r as ‘he harmed, or hurt, him’. The word ḍurr means affliction, as seen in Qur'an 21:83. The word ḍarrāʾ means adversity, found in Qur'an 2:177, and yaḍurru means harms, referenced in Qur'an 10:18. Aḍ-Ḍārr is not found in the Qur'an as a name of Allah. ‘If Allah touches you with harm (ḍurr), none can remove it but Him’ (10:107).
