Al-Muntaqim
The Avenger
Root ن ق م (n-q-m). According to Lane, intaqama minhu (form VIII) means ‘he took, or executed, vengeance on him, or inflicted penal retribution on him, for that which he had done’. The term intiqām means retribution and appears in Qur'an 3:4. The phrase intaqamnā, meaning ‘We took retribution’, is found in Qur'an 7:136. Naqamū, meaning they resented, is used in Qur'an 85:8. While the singular Al-Muntaqim is not in the Qur'an, Allah refers to Himself with the plural participle muntaqimūn in 32:22, 43:41, and 44:16, and as dhū ntiqām in 3:4. ‘Indeed We, from the criminals, will take retribution.’ (32:22)

In the Qur'an
وَمَنْ أَظْلَمُ مِمَّنْ ذُكِّرَ بِآيَاتِ رَبِّهِ ثُمَّ أَعْرَضَ عَنْهَا ۚ إِنَّا مِنَ الْمُجْرِمِينَ مُنْتَقِمُونَ
And who is more unjust than one who is reminded of the verses of his Lord; then he turns away from them? Indeed We, from the criminals, will take retribution.
