Ar-Rashīd
The Guide to the Right Path
Root ر ش د (r-sh-d). According to Lane, rashada means following the right way, while its opposite is ghayy (error). The word rushd refers to right guidance and appears in Qur'an 2:256. Rashad, meaning right course, is found in Qur'an 18:10. Murshid serves as the term for guide in Qur'an 18:17. Rāshidūn means rightly guided and is mentioned in Qur'an 49:7. While Ar-Rashīd is not found as a name of Allah in the Qur'an, the adjective rashīd is used to describe people in verses such as 11:78 and 11:87.
